Onehunnidt – Keep It 100 [Mixtape Talk]

Before I get into this review, I’d like to share some info with you about a movement that Onehunnidt is a part of called BSK (Basik Art).  It’s a clothing line created by his late brother, JJ, but still remains prominent through its custom painted shirts line headed by Onehunnidt & Picasso Chenier.  The movement is about creating positive forms of expression & uplifting one another.

My first exposure to anything BSK was through a friend of mine named Willie who paints shirts.  I’d seen him tweeting some guys in Houston about BSK & one night out in Houston I happened to run into a couple of them.  They turned out to be Jodii B. & Jawz who push the music portion of BSK alongside Onehunnidt.

Keep It 100 is the second project I’ve heard from Onehunnidt following the BSK compilation Legacy Of A Legend.  “Brand New” was my jam last summer!

You can’t tell me nothing, can’t tell me shit.  I’m actin’ brand new, I got on brand new shit.

My favorite songs on Keep It 100 are “No Disrespect,” “I’m Live” featuring Rasta Immortal, “Letter To My Competition,” America,Salute You featuring the homie Doughbeezy & “Unfckwitable.”

I had “Letter To My Competition” on repeat one night & I kept going back to two particular lines:

My time is of the essence. And yea my gal’s hot but I’m too cold to sweat her  & I ain’t talkin’ ’bout the weather…Bitch I’m Stone Cold Steve. No Breeze, but  I quarterback bullets if you wide to receive.

“Letter To My Competition” could’ve easily been titled “Letter To Myself.”  Not to say that Onehunnidt is that cocky, but if you feel like you’re the best at what you do there’s nobody to become better than but yourself, right?  With hard work comes progression & that’s what Keep it 100 embodies.  2 Chainz said it best, “lame niggas be quiet.”

Y’all be sure to go check this man out & have a good time Friday, June 8th at Avant Garden from 10pm – 2am for the Keep It 100 Appreciation Party.
